Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: POST MEDIEVAL
County: Doncaster
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation
A copper alloy wedge shaped unidentified object of probable Post Medieval date. It is sub rectangular in plan (slightly curved sideways) and rectangular in section. In profile it is a slightly T shaped wedge. One end is flattened and hammered. The other is broken but tapers to a wide point. Part of the broken end is rolled up. This object may have been a small splitter or chisel, but it seems much too short. It may also have been used as a stud in a large wooden object. The patina is dark grey green and suggests a Post Medieval to modern date, as do the sharp edges and corners.
