Medieval silver penny of Edward I or II, probably class 10cf1 or 13, minted at London, 1305-1318 AD, North (1991:32, 37) no.1040 or 1064. The portrait, crown, legend and stub tailed R seem similar to Class 10cf1 while the broken but angle backed E and C and form of the S is more similar to classes 11-15. Of these the crown and legend of class 13 is closest to this example. The mix of features could suggest this is a contemporary imitation possibly a continental sterling although this is later than the period when most were imported.
