An incomplete late early-medieval (late Anglo-Saxon) - medieval copper-alloy cloisonné enamelled disc brooch (late 10th - 11th century), of the Saunderton type (Weetch Type 20.A). The brooch is constructed from a base-plate of copper alloy with six equidistant rounded projections, though one has been broken off. A circular copper-alloy collar, 19 mm in diameter, has been soldered onto this base plate and set within the collar is the cloisonné enamel pattern. A cast copper alloy fragment from the bow of a Roman trumpet brooch (75-175 AD). The fragment comprises the mid part of the bow; the head and foot are lost through old patinated breaks. It is crescentic in plan and oval in cross section. It is decorated with a central real flanked above and below by stylised acanthus leaves. The lower edge shows the top of a mid-rib which would have formed the catch plate. The fragment is a mid brownish green colour with a good and well preserved surface patina. Early Medieval copper alloy fragment of a great square-headed brooch. The fragment is roughly L-shaped, consisting of the bow and part of one side of the footplate, with a circular knob projecting from the front of the bow. Traces of gilding and simple grooved decoration are visible on the front of the bow, and the stub of a catchplate remains on the reverse. The fragment is distorted, perhaps through plough damage or by heat, for example during a cremation. An incomplete copper alloy Late Iron Age/ Early Roman La Tène III (AD 20-100) simple one-piece or Nauheim derivative type brooch. It is missing the lower bow and catchplate, and the pin is bent to one side. The brooch measures 43.26mm in length and weighs 4.23g. Cast copper alloy brooch foot dating from the early medieval period, that is c. AD700-900. Only the foot and part of the catchplate survive. The bow, head and pin are missing. The brooch is very worn, but there does not seem to be any surface decoration or mouldings. The foot plate is oval and what remains of the bow is hollow. It may possibly be the foot of an Ansate brooch (pers. comm. Helen Geake).

A fragment of a possible cast copper-alloy disc brooch of early Medieval date. The fragment is part of a flat circular disc and has been burnt. It has a raised outside border and a circular recessed area, possibly for a setting or enamelling. The fragment measures 31.51mm in length, 21.21mm in width, 3.93mm in thickness and weighs 8.01g. It is similar to published examples (West, 1998, no 3.5, also from Barham).
