A cast copper alloy fragment from the bow of a Roman trumpet brooch (75-175 AD). The fragment comprises the mid part of the bow; the head and foot are lost through old patinated breaks. It is crescentic in plan and oval in cross section. It is decorated with a central real flanked above and below by stylised acanthus leaves. The lower edge shows the top of a mid-rib which would have formed the catch plate. The fragment is a mid brownish green colour with a good and well preserved surface patina. A fragment of a glass vessel of post-medieval date. The fragment is sub-rectangular and very thick producing a dark blackish-green colour.
Due to the relatively small portion of glass now remaining it is not possible to determine the exact nature of the vessel from which it originated.
The glass fragment is 60.8mm long, 31.3mm wide, 8.4mm thick and weighs 28.2g.
