Dagger quillon. The arms are oval in cross-section, taper to rounded points, and are straight but project at a slight angle towards the side where the blade would have projected. The oval perforation (20 mm x 7 mm ) for the tang is flanked by grooves for the shoulders of the blade. Length 114 mm, maximum width 13 mm, thickness 6 mm. Medieval dagger quillon form is based closely on contemporary sword quillon form. A similar, but larger, sword quillon can be seen in the London Museum Medieval Catalogue, Plate II No. 1, Fig. 5 No. 1, description on p.33 (B306). Probably dates to the 14th…

Fragment of copper-alloy rotary key, oval-sectioned hollow shank, with symmetrical bit deeply grooved down the sides. The bit has two shallow clefts either side of a central deeper cleft, dividing the bit into two halves, and a longitudinal groove along its base, parallel to the shank. Length >21 mm, bit 18 x 7 mm. Dates to the c. 14th century.

Belt mount cast in the form of an acorn with a curved stalk (somewhat abraded), two incised transverse lines defining the cap, and the remains of twin spikes on the reverse. Compare examples in Read (2001) nos. 331 & 333. Dimensions of 31 mm x 15 mm. Dates to the16th - 17th century. Strikingly similar (almost identical) example found nearby NMS-4A0057, and another found previously in Norfolk NMS-3ED807.

Lead ampulla, one side lug intact, the other broken. The top has been distorted. One face is decorated with a scallop shell of Spencer's (1990) type II, and on the other face an R beneath a lily in lily pot (compare with Spencer 1980, 16, no.39). Dimensions of >28 x 52 mm. The scallop shell represents pilgrimage, the lily-pot represents the Annunciation and the Virgin's purity, and the R may stand for the Lady Richelde of Fervaques, the 'founder' of the shrine at Walsingham. Dates to the 15th-early 16th century.
