Aluminium aircraft debris. A curved fitting possibly from the undercarriage hydraulic system, and circa 20 fragments of melted aluminium. The only recognisable fragment is itself partly melted. These are thought to be parts of a Lancaster bomber (serial no. PB476) of 12 Squadron which crashed at 29 minutes past midnight on the morning of March 4 1945. Copper alloy probable cufflink fragment. Pressed metal oval plate with border. A bust laureate appears on one side, which led to an initial identification as a Roman coin. Copper alloy purse frame fragment. Cast V-section strip with moulded curvilinear decoration along one thinner curved surface (thickness 0.8mm), and three probably drilled holes of diameter 1.8mm, two close together and one apart, in the other, thicker element (of thickness 1.6mm). These holes were presumably for the stitched attachment of a bag. Suggested date: Post-Medieval, 1500-1600. Length: 63.3mm, estimated diameter of entire ring: circa 110mm, Thickness (overall): 4.1mm, Width (of decorated band): 6.2mm, Weight: 7.11gms.

Description: A gilded silver hat-hook or cap-hook, dating to the 16th century. The cap hook has a circular baseplate, with alternating triangular and openwork rectangular scallops around the edge. The S-shaped hook is soldered to the reverse of the back plate, though the pointed hook end is missing. The baseplate supports a dome with applied filigree wire arranged in trefoil forms in a filligree wire circle. In the centre of each trefoil is a silver bead.
