An incomplete Medieval single-looped buckle frame (c. 1250-c. 1500 AD). The frame is sub-oval in plan, convex at the front and flat at the rear. On the front, the outer edge is slightly widened and has a central pin-rest in the form of a shallow notch. The bar is rectangular in cross-section. The copper-alloy tapering pin is rectangular in cross-section throughout its length. It has a length of 21.31mm and a width of 4.14mm at the loop. 21.31 x 27.40 x 2.33mm. Weight: 3.73g. An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is annular with a circular section and is undecorated. The pin is rectangular in section and is looped loosely around the frame. The tip of the pin has been lost to an old worn break. No recess for the pin is present. The metal has a dark greenish-brown patina and is worn. The buckle is 38.6mm in diameter, 3.9mm thick and weighs 8.7g. A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped oval with a single collared knop projecting from the outer edge and a narrowed and offset strap bar. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 17.5mm long, 11.8mm wide, 2.6mm thick and weighs 0.7g. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.21, no.85 and is dated to circa 1250 - 1400.

An incomplete Medieval cast copper-alloy buckle plate and pin (c. 1270-c. 1350 AD). The plate is sub-rectangular in plan and the loop is missing. At the loop end it is straight and has a circular pin hole, 4.36mm in diameter. Close to this hole there is another smaller hole. At the opposite end, the sides of the plate taper and then expand to form a fan-shaped projection. At the centre of the narrowest part at this end there are the remains of a copper-alloy rivet. A complete cast copper alloy buckle of medieval date. The buckle is a single looped D-shape with a lipped frame and a narrowed and offset strap bar. The pin no longer remains. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 17.9mm long, 16.6mm wide, 2.3mm thick and weighs 1.2. A similar example is illustrated in Whitehead, p.20, no.72 and is dated to circa 1350 - 1450.

An incomplete cast copper alloy buckle of Early-medieval date. Roughly half of the buckle remains and is circular in section with a devolved open-jawed animal head at the terminal. The opposing side of the buckle would also have terminated in this feature giving the appearance of two beasts biting the hinge bar. The frame is decorated with swollen rings at regular intervals. The metal has a mid brownish-green patina and is worn. The buckle is 31.1mm long, 5.7mm in diameter and weighs 6.8g. Similar examples can be seen in Hawkes, p.58, fig.20.

A cast copper alloy buckle, from Medieval to Post-Medieval date. The frame is D-shaped. The lip is flat and oval in cross-section. The pin bar is narrower and circular sectioned. The lip is now partly broken and bent. The pin is missing. Pin bar thickness: 5.2mm. Lip thickness: 4mm.

The pin is looped around the strap bar and the buckle is undecorated. The metal has a dark greenish-brown colour and is worn. The buckle is 31.4mm long, 18.4mm wide, 2.7mm thick and weighs 3.9g. Similar examples are illustrated in Whitehead, p.37 and are dated to circa 1350 - 1450.
