A possible incomplete copper-alloy finger ring dating to the Roman period. The object is a distorted oval-shaped strip of copper-alloy decorated with ribs on the exterior. The hoop is oval in cross-section and incomplete at both ends. The object appears to be cut down from a Roman bracelet as many other finger rings of this date are.

An incomplete copper-alloy enameled finger-ring of Roman date. The upper surface of the bezel contains an oval setting in a quatrefoil which defines four lozengeform cells with a central circular cell. Three of the lozengeform cells retain traces of red enamel. The shoulders taper smoothly into the hoop, the majority of which is missing.

A copper alloy finger ring, probably of post medieval date, AD1500-1800. The hoop is of a D section , rising to a narrow, flat ridge in the centre of the outside edge. There is also a slight ridge on the inside of the hoop. The bezel is a pointed oval shape, with scalloped edges. It is decorated with ten small rings around the edge and a further small ring, somewhat off-centre, in the middle. The hoop of the ring is 22mm in diameter: the bezel is 20.8mm long and 15.8mm wide. The weight is 4.86gm.
A ring of very similar design can be found on the database at reference SUR-815880.

Description: A complete gold finger ring made of a flattened band engraved on the exterior with a French inscription in lower-case gothic or 'black-letter' script. The inscription begins with a small cross, and the words alternate with three very similar designs of a two-branched plant, one branch shorter and the other longer, each with thin leaves and ending in a feathery trefoil flower. The inscription reads en bon cuer (in good heart).
