A cast copper-alloy strap junction of medieval date. The central element is quadrilobate, formed of a ring with a rounded lobe at each cardinal point. Between each lobe an attachment loop would have looped round the ring, three attachment loops now survive. Each lobe has a groove coming in from each side towards its base. This, in conjunction with grooves that radiate out from the centre of the base give a scallop shell effect. The lower surface of the ring is flat and plain. Each attachment loop is of the same construction; they vary slightly in size. They are formed of strips folded…

This case is an addendum to 2010 T833, SOM-093AC3.
Description: Four silver coins, two pennies and two half groats, that are an addenda to coin hoard 2010 T833. The two pennies were found stuck together by soil and the halfgroats were nearby, all in the same area as the original find.
1. A silver penny, probably of Edward III (1327-1377), Third 'Florin' coinage, minted at Durham, c.1344-1351 AD, North 1127. Very worn.
