A cast copper alloy object with Anglo-Scandinavian zoomorphic decoration cast on two sides. D-shaped in plan, with a small step at the base and a small iron tang projecting from the centre of the base. This step and the iron tang suggest that the object is a component part of a larger object; it resembles an end-cap from a late medieval or early post-medieval knife or dagger handle. The zoomorphic motif on each face is of a quadruped beast contorted into an S-shape.

This composite object, roughly square in plan, is made up of a flat square sheet of copper alloy is fixed to the reverse of a sub-square frame, which has a large circular opening and a lobe at each corner, by four rivets. Three rivets survive in place and each has a globular head, which appear to be enamelled. The stems of the rivets are curled over at the reverse. The centre of the object, fixed through the backplate, is a large globular headed rivet with a cros etched into the head. The stem is flush against the reverse.

An incomplete Iron Age copper-alloy La Tène I type brooch of 4th- to 3rd-century BC date, possibly La Tène IBc. All but one turn of the spring, external chord and pin are lost. Below the head the bow widens out and is a pointed oval in plan, with a maximum width of 8mm, narrowing again to the foot. The back of the bow is flat and the front is shallowly convex.
