The outer edge of a large, rectangular buckle manufactured from cast copper-alloy. The frame has incised linear decoration and a notch for housing a pin. This example is of post-medieval origin, with buckles of this type appearing throughout the post-medieval period (Whitehead, 2003).

A Medieval copper alloy buckle dating from the late 14th century. It is an example of Meols Type 10 which has an oval frame with an expanded outer edge decorated with a projecting knop at each end and three grooves across the outer edge. The bar is recessed and offset. The copper alloy wire pin is wrapped round the bar.

A cast copper-alloy buckle of post-medieval date. The buckle is double looped with moulded ribbed decoration on the upper side of the frame. The reverse of the flame is flat and undecorated. The strap bar divides the two loops of the buckle and there are moulded knops at either end of the strap bar. The strap bar has traces of ferrous corrosion on it from the iron pin which was found with the buckle frame but is broken and unattached. A double looped buckle manufactured from cast copper-alloy and dating from the early post-medieval period. The buckle has a vesica shaped frame with a protrusion at either end of the narrowed strap bar. Similar buckle are described by Ross Whitehead and are dated to 1550-1650 (p.61). The buckle is in fair condition, with a dark surface patination.

A cast copper-alloy buckle of medieval to post-medieval date. The buckle is oval looped and has a small oval integral plate which terminates in a circular knop which has an integrally cast rivet/stud on the reverse for attachment. There is a circular hole for the pin, now missing. The surface patina is missing through abrasion and corrosion. The buckle measures 26.26 mm long, 14.1 mm wide, 2.65 mm thick and weighs 2.1 grams.

A fragmnet of an enamelled cast copper alloy buckle frame of mid to late seventeenth century date.The frament appaers to be the top part of the buckle frame with the two legs of the animal, which are broken off by old breaks, would have extended to form the other sides of the frams. The fragment is in the shape of an animal with a head at one end and curled tail at the other. There are traces of a white enamal remaining. An complete cast copper alloy Post-Medieval buckle frame dating from about 1500-1650. The double loop oval frame has moulded knops at either end of a slightly recessed strap bar. The frame has been bent; the attached pin moves freely along the pin bar but has been worn to a point, no longer able to rest securely against the frame. An incomplete cast copper alloy Medieval buckle frame dating from about 1100 - 1300. The lipped single oval frame is a D-shaped in plan but the bar is not narrowed nor offset. There is a pin notch on the lip of the frame and a ridge on the bar where the pin would have been attached. It and the plate are now missing. An incomplete Medieval cast copper alloy annular buckle pin, probably from the 14th century. It has an incomplete loop that tapers towards the end, where there is an old break. Outside and below the loop is a rectangular moulded collar. The shaft tapers slightly towards the end; on the underside of the tip, there is a small worn area that may be the notch. The pin is subrectangular in plan. It has a dark green patina. The pin is 46.45mm in length, 7.15mm in width, 4.75mm thick and weighs 4.1grams. A similar brooch pin can be seen on the database SUSS-1E8091 and KENT-7A8BC3.
