Pottery body sherd with two finger nail impressions, at an oblique angle to each other, in the centre of the exterior of the sherd. The sherd is made of gabbroic clay that weathers over the gabbro outcrop on the Lizard in Cornwall. The fabric has inclusions of pale felspars, dark augite and mica and is orangey-brown on the exterior and mid-brown on the interior of the sherd with a black residue. This gabbroic fabric and type of decoration are seen on Grooved Ware vessels, dating from c.2900-2400 BC (Henrietta Quinnell, forthcoming). T.G. Manby in Cleal & MacSween (1999) illustrates …

The ventral face has no clear features. The dorsal face has been thinned by flaking towards a point at the distal end. The dorsal left margin is serrated and there is a small notch on the distal left shoulder. The flint is mottled light and dark brown in colour. It is probably derived from a local beach pebble by the look of its secondary cortex. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar piece on Page 135 Fig 59 No L152 which he calls a piercer and dates to the Neolithic period.

Flint pebble end-scraper, sub-oval in plan, plano-convex in profile and triangular in section. Bulb removed from the ventral face. A layer of brown cortex covers the dorsal face from the proximal end to the scraper retouched distal end. the flint is slate grey colour with lighter flecks. Bond (2004) illustrates a similar example on page 108, Fig. 5.92, No. 134, which is dated to the earlier Mesolithic.

A worn and incomplete cast copper-alloy post-medieval purse of late 15th to early 16th-century date. This artefact consists of a purse bar with remnants of the block and a globular knop terminal. This bar has been bent slightly upwards and laterally as a result of old damage. The terminal knop is undecorated. The object has a dark green patina.

Flint nodular edged-flake, sub-rectangular in plan, miniscus in profile and trapezoidal in section. Conchoidal ripples on ventral face. A layer of brown cortex is present on the dorsal face. retouch on the left and right edges and the distal end. Snapped at the proximal end. The flint is dark brown grey colour with lighter flecks. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar example on page 143, Fig. 63, No. L197, which is dated to the Neolithic.

It consists of a hollow tube which terminates in the form of an animal head with a rounded muzzle. Each side has a circular protrusion with traces of a small hole in its centre, presumably to fix the object onto a handle.
