Flint pebble edged-flake, triangular in plan and profile, and kite in section. A layer of light cream cortex is present on the proximal end with serrated retouch at the distal end on the dorsal face. The flint is grey colour with lighter flecks. Mercer (1981) illustrates a similar example on page 143, Fig. 63, No. L206, which is dated to the Neolithic.

Flint pebble end-scraper, oval in plan, rectangular in profile and lozenge in section. Bulb on ventral face, with retouch on the right edge and snapped on the left of the distal end. Scraper retouch on the remaining three quarters of the distal end on the dorsal face, with notched right edge. Possible a re-used blade. The flint is honey grey colour with lighter flecks. Butler (2005) illustrates a similar example on page 127, Fig. 51, No. 1, which is dated to the earlier Neolithic.

Chert blade, pentagonal in plan, curvilinear triangle in profile and ellipse in section. Bulb on ventral face, notched on the left edge, serrated retouch on the right edge, and gloss on the bulb. Retouch on the upper left edge of dorsal face. The chert is slate grey colour with lighter flecks and is therefore likely to be Portland chert. Bond (2004) illustrates a similar example on page 135, Fig. 5.121, No. F54, which is dated to the earlier Neolithic.

A collection of 11 cast lead musket balls. All have a slightly flattened side, suggesting that they have come into contact with a target. The total weight of the 11 is 199.19g. The largest weighs 33.83g and is 16mm in diameter. the smallest weighs 2.74g and had a diameter of 13mm. Musket balls are difficult to date when not found in context, but could date from the civil war era.

A cast copper alloy object. This is probably a blade of Bronze Age date, suggested by the patina of the copper alloy. The object is triangular in section, being 6mm thick at its widest and tapering to a sharp narrow convex edge. The widest edge is slightly convex. It is eliptical in plan. it is 41mm long, 13mm wide and 66mm thick. It weighs 8.66g. No exact replica has been found for this object. It is possibly the blade edge of a Bronze Age axe head. An incomplete cast copper alloy stirrup-strap mount of Williams Class A, Type 3dating to the Early Medieval period (11th century AD). The mount is sub-circular in plan and is 32 mm in width. A section is missing where the suspension loop would have been. The openwork design is probably a depiction of Woden.

An almost complete cast copper alloy Roman Polden Hill type brooch. The pin is missing but the spring remains, showing 7 turns. The spring runs through the reverse hooh which extends backwards from the wings. The wings are concave and are 3mm wide and 20mm long with vertical grooves decorating the front. The bow is circular in section and is damaged with a large bend at the centre. The catchplate is 15mm long.

A silver long-cross penny, minted at London. The broken dexter spearhead of the crown suggests that this is a Class 11a coin (North 1060-1062) of Edward II, minted between 1311 and 1312. The surfaces are worn in places. It measures 19mm in diameter, 0.4mm thick and weighs 1.3g.

A gilded copper-alloy composite artefact of uncertain use or function and of Early-Medieval date. The copper alloy visible beneath the gilding has dark patches in many places, almost black-purplish on the reverse; this might suggest some inclusion of silver in the alloy, perhaps over 10%; this could only be tested with XRF analysis. It consists of three main components; a backplate with collar, a central slab of grey material, and an openwork top with a reserved swastika. A flint barbed and tanged arrowhead dating from the Late Neolithic to Middle Bronze Age (c. 2500 BC - c.1150 BC). The arrowhead is bifacially worked and sub-triangular in plan. There are two rounded notches in the base, flanking the central tang with a barb at either side. The tang is complete and extends beyond the limit of the barbs, of which only one is complete.
