The bell is made up of two sections that have been soldered together, the upper half is subconical with the base of a truncated loop soldered onto the top. The lower half is hemispherical with a slit in the centre. There is a pronounced ridge that runs the circumference where the two halves were joined.
Dimensions: length 19mm, width 17mm, thickness 12mm, weight 2.42g.
A similar example was recorded under the Treasure Act 2003 T370 and was dated to the 15th or 16th century. See also BH-00E682, ESS-481856, ESS-F48B05 for similar examples on the PAS database

A fragment from the rim of a cast copper-alloy clapper-bell of late Medieval to Post-Medieval date. The rim is slightly everted and decorated on its outer surface with four moulded transverse/circumferential ridges. It measures 26.50mm in length/height, 37.84mm in width, 60mm in original diameter, 2.23mm in thickness and 12.18g in weight. This is a fragment from the rim of a clapper bell similar to other examples from Suffolk (for example SF-671EB6 or SF-ACF3F6) and is of probable 15th-17th century AD date.
