Square lead badge, possibly a pilgrim badge, but with no obvious parallel in Spencer 1998 (Pilgrim Souvenirs and Secular Badges: Medieval Finds from Excavations in London 7) or Spencer 1990 (Pilgrim Souvenirs and Secular Badges: Salisbury and South Wiltshire Medieval Catalogue Part 2). Pellets around the outer edge with raised ridges running diagonally across the face. The reverse has what appears to be a pin mechanism made out of lead.

Bent strip of cast lead-tin alloy with a definite break at one end and slightly irregular sides and other end. The back is flat, the front slightly convex. The end opposite the break is curved but has breaks and corrosion in the corners, obscuring its original shape. The width tapers gradually from the curved end to the broken end. In profile it curves up then down 90 degrees before the break. It could be part of a large, flat 18th century pewter spoon handle but this is hard to identify form the remaining fragment.
