This is a hammered silver cut half penny of Henry III (1216-72). As a short cross coin, it dates to 1216-47). The obverse has the crowned bust facing with a sceptre in the right hand. And the reverse has the voided short cross with a quatrefoil at each quadrant. The coin has suffered slight clipping and the surface is beginning to oxidise.

Treasure Number: 2010 T77 "Description: Silver shoe buckle. Rectangular, slightly curved. The frame decorated with moulding resembling that in a carved picture frame. Would have had a separate iron spindle which is now missing. On the back, a hallmark with lion passant. The lion passant mark suggests this belt buckle was made in Birmingham, apparently after 1773, which is when that mark came into use there. Therefore this item does not qualify as Treasure. This is an Elizabeth I (1558-1603) silver hammered sixpence dated 1581; the coin is from the fifth issue. The obverse has the bust facing left with a rose in the field behind the bust with a clear Latin cross mintmark preceding the 'E' of Elizabeth. The reverse has the square-topped shield over the long cross fourchée with date above. The coin is in poor condition with heavy clipping to the rim

This is a copper alloy, cast 'D' shape buckle, probably of 16th to 17thth century origin. From the cross bar it has symmetrical saddle shaped extensions leading to a central, notched pin rest with three groves, resembling an 'arrowhead'. Some ferrous staining is evident on the cross bar and the pin rest, the pin is missing.

This is a hammered silver Double Patard, of Charles the Bold (1467-77) of Flanders and Brabant (present day Belgium). The obverse has the quartered shield of arms and the reverse bears an ornate cross fleury. In this case, the coin is broken with perhaps 2/5ths remaining intact. As a part of a commercial and political pact, these coins were made legal tender in 1469 and circulated as the exact equivalent of a Groat until 1530. Apart from the break, the coin has two small splits and slight clipping to the rim.

Spherical fossil sponge (called 'porosphaera', from the cretaceous period, 70-135 million years ago) with naturally occuring, slightly tapering, hole through it. Diameter c.78mm, diameter of perforation 12mm-10.5mm, weight 480.8g. Wear around the edges of the hole may indicate that this has been suspended at some point, although the wear is not in the same position at both ends - possibly just damage. From the early hammered silver issue of 1660-1662, this is a silver penny of Charles II (1660-85). This coin is from the third issue of the series, with a crown mintmark and inner circles to both sides. The obverse has the crowned bust left with 'I' in the field behind the bust. The reverse has a square-topped shield on a cross moline. A copper alloy book clasp of Post-Medieval date. It is made from sheet metal, with an elaborate shape and decoration. One terminal consists of a rectangular plate 17.15mm x 13.03mm, with two protruding, cylindrical knops, which would have held a short bar, now missing. This would have formed the corresponding 'eye' plate to which a hooked clasp would have attached, in order to keep the book closed. A copper alloy fragment from a Middle Bronze Age palstave. It comes from the butt end, and is a rectangular shape with triangular sides thickening to form flanges on both sides of the object. It measures 23.68mm in width, 15.78mm in surviving length and the flanges are 11.56mm and 8.28mm in depth. It weighs 12.9g.

Medieval copper alloy buckle with two fragments of the pin. The main loop is oval with a notch for the pin and rectangular strap loop. This buckle belongs to a small group of buckles dating mainly to the period 1350-1450AD, the number of types within this group is fairly limited. They are thought to have been used to secure sword or dagger belts but some have been found from excavations which are still attached to waist girdles. The length is 24mm, the width is 25mm, thickness 2mm and the weight is 1.67g. The length of the pin fragments are 8mm and 2mm respectively.

A Post-Medieval copper alloy fragment probably from a belt fitting or strap-fastener. It is part of a sheet metal fitting and is trapezoidal in shape, being 29.01mm in width and 0.85mm in thickness. Four rivet holes formed from a ring and dot stamp decorate both true edges, and the object has been broken off in antiquity to a length of 26.66mm. It weighs 3.85g. The punched decoration was applied to the upper surface, and traces of letters can also be determined, with 'ho' and 'A1' (or 'Al') just being legible. The style suggests a 17th-18th century date.
