9 clay pipe bowl fragments. The bowl fragments are from a variety of different pipes, all of which are undecorated except for a line of rouletting near the bowl rim. The fragments are made from moulded fine white clay. The stems weigh 147g. Clay pipes were made in England from the mid 17th to the early 20th century. To date more precisely clay pipes the pipe bowl or any decoration is need. As there are no diagnostic features on these stems, they are given this broad dating range, but they are probably not dated to the 19th to 20th century due to the lack of ornate decoration.

The surviving part is 49.2mm long, 34.5mm wide and 9.2mm thick. The wheel is openwork with four radiating struts. The teeth are arranged in groups of three which is a slightly unusual feature. There is a patchy black coating which can often suggest a seventeenth century date. Similar examples can be seen in Bailey's "Detector Finds", page 96 dated from the seventeenth or eighteenth centuries.

Probably a Late Medieval Venetian silver soldino probably of Doge Agostin Barbarigo (1486-1501). Late type (LAVS TIBI SOLI reverse type). The soldino was known as the galyhalpens (galley-halfpence) as it was brought by the annual Venetian trading fleets. The soldino was about the size of English halfpennies and was popular because of a contemporary lack of small change: soldini in fact occur as English finds more often than proper halfpennies of the period.
