A copper alloy L-shaped scabbard chape. The two side extensions are pierced near their terminals. The chape is in the form of two animals; the larger on the back of the smaller. It is not clear whether this is a hunting scene with a dog and a rabbit or whether the animals may be copulating. The larger animal stands on its hind legs and has prominent ears and eyes. Notches run along its back and onto the extension which may be intended to be seen as a tail. A cast copper alloy gilded double aperture buckle frame of elaborate form. The buckle is of hexagonal form, each side gently curving inwards and each angle change having a projecting rounded lobe. In the outer parts of each side of the frame are two additional apertures of rhomboidal form which have projecting lobes, two each on the outer edge of the frame and one each internally, the latter projecting into the main apertures. The whole face is covered in cast foliate motifs. The pin is missing.
