Two pieces of probable metal working waste, both of lead with a white/brown patina and some plough damage. One is cast in a roughly rectangular form, tapered both edges in section (92.8 x 43.1 x 28.4mm). The second is slightly curved, with two smooth surfaces, one rough, and one with small subparallel grooves (113.5 x 43.8 x 26.3mm).

Fragment of an iron scale-tang knife comprising part of the blade and handle. A copper alloy rivet secures the corroded remains of a wooden handle. The knife is possibly of 17th century date, but is more likely to be later.

A copper alloy Trumpet brooch, dating from 75 - 175 AD. The bow is decorated with a fully developed acanthus moulding, and the underface of the foot knob is recessed and may have held enamel. The head is recessed to hold the spring, but the spring and pin now missing. Part of the catch plate, and the chain loop are also missing. A similar example can be found in Hattatt 'Ancient and Romano-British Brooches' p108, fig:45.

A cast lead weight. Domed lead disc with smooth base. It has a light white/brown patina. The top appears to have an incised inscription (possibly 207 Z, 2oz Z, or similar). Difficult to date as simple lead weights remain in use from the medeival through to the modern period.

Cast copper alloy harness pendant set. The head of the suspension mount has a scallop-like shape; this is mimicked in the shape of the pendent. The reverse of the mount has an integral rivet; there is a tag at the base which curves behind the object to form the loop for the suspension bar for the pendent. The pendent possibly had some incised, radiating lines with gilding on the surface.

Base of a late Romano-British jar. Coarse red/brown fabric with frequent inclusions of shell, and less frequent small inclusions of hard black gritty material. Inclusions have leached out of the surfaces, leaving them pitted. The base of the jar is 8.5cm in diameter and the vessel walls are 0.8cm thick. The form fits that of Gillam 157 (Gillam 1951), which is the standard form for Dales Ware. Produced in Lincolnshire and South Humbererside in the 3rd and 4th centuries, it is adundant in North Yorkshire around 250-340 AD.

Lead cloth seal. The face has a stamped decoration depicting (possibly) two wool combs or cutters. There is a line in the centre of the diameter of the object showing that it previously comprised two separate discs; these are now joined. The reverse is not decorated; there are the remains of the shank which connected the first disc with the second.

A wheelmade rim sherd of Roman grey ware. Fine, hard textured fabric. Surfaces are smooth and burnished (especially noticable on the interior and rim, as the outer is now slightly abraded). The core is a very pale grey with fine sandy inclusions. Probably Crambeck Ware, part of the rim of a large flanged bowl, circa 300 to 400 AD.

Cast copper alloy circular buckle. The object has a wide frame, oviod in plan. The band of the frame is 8.4mm wide. Decoration comprises straight, inscised lines, each one at an angle from the next. The reverse is not decorated with the exception of some silvering on both faces.

Cast copper alloy buckle with moulded decoration. The buckle is a Marshall Type IC. The frame is oval with a thicker pin rest, this having moulded grooves and ridges. There are two knops at the outside of the frame, one at each side of the pin rest. The pin bar is slightly recessed; the pin is missing.

Cast copper alloy buckle dating to the Medieval period. The buckle has a rectangular frame with spurs on the loop; the spurs flank the recessed pin bar which has a rotating closure. There is an integrally cast plate. The plate is elongated and ovoid, with a perforation toward the frame and an intact rivet on the reverse of the terminal end. In the angles between the frame and the plate, there is some evidence of gilding.
