a copper alloy palstave. It is very heavily corroded with a light green patina. There is a light brown layer covering parts of the blade, probably all that remains of the original surface. The blade, flanges and the butt are severely worn and pitted making identification of diagnostic features difficult. The blade is relatively unexpanded, the flanges are low and these merge into a damaged butt.

Large, cast pewter plate. One of a group of three plates found together. Circular plate with ovolo decoration on the beaded edge of the rim. The rim is wide and angled down slightly, probably as a consequence of the pewter sagging over time. Indeed the rim is starting to split from the body of the plate in some places. The plate is dished from the inner edge of the rim before rising again to a convex middle. Very large, cast pewter platter. One of a group of three plates found together. Circular platter with a raised, beaded rim. The body of the plate is flat and undecorated. in the middle. There is a small circular depression at the centre. At the back of the platter, there is a narrow footring towards the centre.The edge of the platter is torn inwards in several places.

Part of a copper alloy Roman ring-key in the form of a 6mm wide hoop, with a short hollow stem [7mm ext dia] attached instead of the bezel. The fairly simple bit is at right angles to the stem. One of these keys can be seen in corroded into the lock of a box from one of the graves in the Butt Road excavations in Colchester [Crummy 1983, p86].

A cast copper strap loop of medieval date. The distorted rectangular fitting measures 25.4mm by 22.3mm by 5.4mm and weighs 3.1g. The top of the frame has slightly protruding corners and a central oval knop with moulded cross-hatching, the back of which is recessed. There is a rivet hole in the central of the back edge. For a similar example, see SOMDOR-232653, from Spetisbury, Dorset.

A complete cast copper alloy strap slide of Medieval date (c. AD 1175 - c. AD 1400). Length 17.7mm, width 21.2mm and 2.0mm thick. Weight 2.43g. The frame of the loop is trapezoidal in plan and is flat on both faces. The outside edge is 21.2mm in width and the width of the inside edge is 16.0mm.The outside edge is 1.8mm thick, not quite as thick as the other three sides. A complete copper-alloy medieval circa 14th century harness pendant and suspension mount. It measures 30.49mm in total length.
The suspension mount is rectangular in shape with a rounded front face and edges, projecting from the centre of its back face is a cylindrical integral rivet. The lower half of the mount splits into two opposing loops, these hold a corroded iron bar between them horizontally, the pendant itself hangs from this bar. The suspension loop measures 13.80mm in length and 7.12mm in width.

A copper-alloy possible dagger or knife quillon or guard probably of late medieval or post medieval date. Rectangular in plan and flattened oval in section, it has a central rectangular hole, through which the tang would presumably have passed. A medieval copper alloy rectangular buckle plate decorated with a profile low-relief animal, probably a lion sejant, looking right, away from the two broken hinge loops and towards the attachment end. The tail is long and curved and ends in a tuft, and there is a hint of mane before the indistinct head. There are two rivet holes, one in either corner of the attachment end, with traces of corrosion from iron rivets. 12th to 14th century.

Early Medieval copper alloy stirrup strap mount. The object is triangular in form with a trefoil shaped upper terminal which contains a circular rivet hole. The object is obscured by wear and corrosion but probably had a raised border containing a raised, left facing, lion or dog with head facing upwards above its body and foreleg raised. Below the decoration are two further rivet holes, which sit next to each other just above a protruding lip on its reverse side which is. Apart from this lip the reverse is plain. The mount fits Williams' Class A, type 11A and is similar nos 202-228.
