A cast copper strap fitting of probable seventeenth century date. The circular fitting measures 22mm by 16.2mm by 9.2mm and weighs 2.9g. It has a three-tier domed front and a concave back. Two pointed lugs project from the edge. These are set opposite each other, one currently pointing inwards and the other outwards. A hand made coarseware fragment from the rim of a late Saxon/early-medieval jar type open vessel (c. 950 - c. 1050 AD). The sherd has a dark coloration due to non-oxidisation during firing. Some sooting indicates use as a cooking vessel with inclusions of a flint temper (some of which has been burnt). The sherd has suffered a small chip in the rim surface. On the complete vessel the rim would have been approximately 140mm in diameter.

A medieval copper alloy strap end made from a strip of metal that bifurcates at the upper end to take the strap. The upper section is rectangularand tapers to to a trefoil shaped terminal. Along the length are two pairs of D-shaped lugs and a pair of larger lugs with perforations. The bifurcated end is reminiscent of Thomas's Class B, Late Saxon strap ends, but these are much slimmer in shape so it is possible that this is a later variant.
