Description of find
Sixteen 3rd century copper alloy radiate coins found together in the same hole, approximately 16 inches deep. The coins all dated from 260 AD - 285 AD. It is therefore likely that they were lost at the same time as a small hoard of coins. Consequently, in terms of age and as there are over 10 copper alloy coins they qualify as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

A Medieval signet ring with a circular bezel containing the image of a bird plucking a flower. Above the head of the bird is the following inscription:
I FFYNCHR
This is likely to denote a personal name, J Fincher, the bird, or finch, acting as a rebus. (A rebus is an image which represents a word).
The shoulders of the ring are fluted with three grooves, which turn into a fictive cable-work effect, the grooves being decorated with small punches. The back of the ring has seen a lot of wear, and these punches have, for the most part, been rubbed out.
