Late early medieval tongue-shaped Ringerike or Winchester style strap end, late 10th-early 11th century. Sub-rectangular plate with two rivet holes containing the remains of copper alloy rivets at the short upper (proximal) edge. The majority of the obverse of the plate is covered with moulded relief foliate interlace decoration (either Ringerike or Winchester style). Early medieval Anglo Saxon gilded copper alloy mount fragment. The flat-sectioned mount appears to have originally been sub-rectangular, with pointed terminals with outwardly curved sides. Just one terminal and part of the central rectangular panel survive. There are traces of either one or two iron rivets in the terminal. The panel has unclear interlace decoration, and is broken across a central square or rectangular aperture. There are some traces of gilding on the obverse. Cast copper alloy tweezers fragment, part of one arm only. Parallel sided arm, broken off before the fold. There are traces of a longitudinal faint narrow casting line down the centre of each of the surfaces of the arm. The expanded trapezoidal-shaped terminal is inwardly angled, and when complete, the terminals would have formed ‘pincers’ for plucking. Possibly Roman, more probably medieval or post medieval. Length 41.43mm, width at terminal 12.71mm, width across break 3.9mm, thickness of arm 1.4mm, thickness of terminal 0.9mm, weight 1.99g.

Semi-cylindrical groove along the longest side, within which the iron stirrup would have sat - traces of a white substance, probably solder, within this.
