Device of a shield couché (at an angle) bearing a coat of arms; on its upper right-hand corner, a helm. A copper alloy, vesica-shaped (pointed oval) seal matrix, suspension loop intact on reverse. Device: the angel showing the empty tomb after Christ's resurrection. The angel is on the left, sitting on the edge of a cross-hatched rectangular tomb, whose open lid is propped up vertically inside it. A copper-alloy knob-handle which is most likely to be a Roman furniture fitting. The knob has a circular cross-section and measures 23.9mm in length and 17.6mm in width. It has a rounded terminal which is decorated with a deep circumferencial groove it is then waisted before flaring back into a larger terminal again with circumferencial grooves and mouldings. This larger terminal end has a flat underside and a fragment of corroded iron protrudes from this, this is most likely to be the remains of an iron shaft. A fragment of probable speculum probably originally from a Roman mirror. This fragment is roughly triangular in shape with one convex edge which appears to be original and slightly bevelled. The fragment measures 25.1mm by 18.1mm in size and one face is shiny and reflective and the other rough to the touch and pitted. Similar mirror fragments have been found elsewhere in Suffolk from Hitcham, see SF-1EF1D4 and Offton see SF-22FEC1.

The object is possibly a harness fitting, or a strap guide. The heavy surface pitting and style perhaps suggests a late Iron Age or early Roman date. In plan the object is a sub-rectangle with expanded and rounded terminals and abraded edges. This terminals form a flange for the body of the object which is, in profile, a horizontal sub-crescentic shape. The apex of the object is the upper surface, the concave surface the underside. Roman copper alloy trumpet brooch, 49mm long and 11mm wide. The brooch is in a fair condition with a green patina and weighs 9.57 grams. The brooch is missing most of its spring, thouogh one coil on each side is present. The body has an arrow shaped decoration on its upper quarter and has a rounded protrusion forming its neck. The brooch is rather plain and has an intact catchplate, 21mm long and 10mm wide at the catch.

The sherd is a fragment of a vessel rim. The wall of the vessel is quite straight. It is made from abraded Samian ware, which may date to the 1st to 2nd century. The fabric is fine, and a orange red colour, whereas the surfaces are a dark brown/red colour with a developed shine. There is no decoration. The sherd weighs 7.2g and is abraded.

Roman copper alloy crossbow brooch, 72mm long and 51mm wide. The brooch is intact with a brown patina and weighs 29.77grams. The brooch consists of a hexagonal sectioned arm which has angular rounded terminals. The bow has a triangular section and terminates with another angular roundel. The bow follows a semi-circular course and becomes square in section where it joins the catchplate. This is contained within a square sectioned shaft and the pin is accomodated by a tapering slit down one side.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy lozenge-shaped strip brooch with remains of gilding and iron corrosion on the back, dating to the late 8th/ early 9th century AD (length: 90.7mm; width: 66mm; thickness of plate: 1.6mm; weight: 30.23g). At the top of this flat plate brooch, there is a large slightly extending area of iron corrosion, where the iron spring was situated. A complete copper-alloy sheet rivet, used to repair splits in sheet vessels. It has the characteristic uneven hexagonal outline and is folded from a cut lozenge shape. It measures 28.4mm in length and 17.2mm in width. It has a black patina due exposure to an open fire, it is therefore most likely that this rivet was used to repair a cooking vessel of some kind, which then continued to be used in an open fire.
