Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Suffolk
Workflow stage: Published Find published
A copper-alloy incomplete unidentified object, this object is incomplete due to old breaks. The suriving fragment is rectangular in shape and measures 17.5mm in length and 14.9mm in width. The front face is decorated with an incised circle in the centre of which there is a circular perforation, 2.3mm in diameter. Part of another incised circle can be seen to one side of this complete one. The back face is undecorated. This fragment is most likely to be a strap fitting or mount of some kind but it is too fragmentary to be certain. It is possibly medieval or post-medieval in date.

A copper-alloy unidentified object, a circular disc, measuring 12.9mm in diameter and 1.6mm in thickness. There is a circular perforation through the centre of the disc, measuring 2.3mm in diameter. One face of the disc is decorated with four evenly spaced circular indentations, possibly originally ring and dot motifs. Traces of a ahite metal coating can also be seen on this face. The other face is undecorated. No parallel could be found for this object but due to the nature of its decoration it is believed to be early-medieval in date.
