Record ID: LIN-A78CA7
Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: MEDIEVAL
County: Lincolnshire
Workflow stage: Published
Cast copper alloy object. The 'shank' of the object is thin and flat sided, with a riveted section defined by two flanking transverse grooves. The 'upper' edge of the terminal section tapers sharply to meet the lower, creating a 45 degree angle point. The object looks like a small strap end, although it appears too thin for this use. A very similar unidentified object was found at Grendon, Northamptonshire, and is recorded on the Portable Antiquities Database as NARC3349.

A bifacially worked leafshaped arrowhead. One side of the arrowhead is slightly flatter than the other and has been subject to less retouch. Unfortunately the tip of the arrowhead has been snapped off. It is unclear whether this break occurred in antiquity or whether it is damage that occurred whilst the object was in the plough soil.

Object type: POLISHED AXEHEAD
Broad period: NEOLITHIC
County: Northamptonshire
Workflow stage: Published
A polished stone axehead. The axehead has been sheared in half and the butt end is missing. This is presumably a result of plough damage. The curved cutting edge of the axe retains its sharpness and is undamaged other than some nicks along the edge which probably also represent post-depositional damage. The axehead's polish is most well-preserved in the area immediately around the cutting edge and the surface becomes pock-marked towards the butt-end of the axe.
