Copper alloy zoomorphic mount, probably from a vessel handle or lid and of Early Roman date. The mount depicts a sitting quadruped with its front legs extending out in front of the body, and possibly representing a bear or a dog. The animal is naturalistic in style. The hair is depicted by incised lines over the body, except for the top of the back, where a rectangular panel is decorated with two incised diagonal crosses divided by a single incised line. On the rear of the animal there is an integral flat circular perforated lug covered with iron corrosion, and possibly representing a …

A milled Indian coin (eighth rupee). The coin displays a date of AH 1172 (=AD 1759) with the regnal year 6 and the name Alimgir II, the Mughal Emperor from AD 1754 to 1759. It also has the mint name Arkat (Arcot). All this information is ficticious. The coin was actually produced by the Madras Presidency of the British East India Company between AD 1823 - 1825. The rose mintmark indicates the mint to be Calcutta. An incomplete cast copper-alloy cooking vessel foot, and part of the leg. This foot has a flat inside face and a curved outer face with five evenly shaped mouldings. Part of the leg survives, again with a convex outer face and flat inner face. It measures 55mm in length and 48mm in width and is 25mm thick. Medieval copper alloy purse frame suspension loop, probably of 15th or 16th century date. The loop is D-shaped with an oval cross section. The sides are decorated with a chevron motif constructed with recessed lines, which possibly originally contained niello. The design is contained by two linear incised lines at the top, within which the loop is plain. The bottom of the loop is decorated with incised vertical lines, coming off the circular moulding before the broken integral axis, which would have been joined to the purse frame.

A complete copper-alloy end cap from an iron knife. This end cap is roughly rectangular in shape measuring 16mm in width and 10mm in height. The top edge is dome shaped with a rectangular shaped knop at either end, which could perhaps represent a crown. Both faces are deocrated with cross hatching of vertical and horizontal incised straight lines. The lower edge has a slot filled with corroded iron from the tang of the knife. This end cap is medieval in date.

Roman copper alloy dolphin brooch fragment of 1st century AD date. The fragment consists of the upper bow and one of the wings. The brooch would have had a spring mechanism but it is unclear which type of mechanism was employed, the rear of the head has the remnants of a lug, which may have been a rearward claw. The wings and upper bow were decorated with mouldings, although little of the design survives, there is the suggestion of a vertical moulding on the wing, and the sides of the head are stepped and decorated with short incised lines. The upper bow has a circular section, althoug…

Gilded copper alloy brooch fragment. The 'knob' probably from the side of the head plate of a florid cruciform type in the form of a face mask. The back is flat. Above the face is a thinner flat area, probably the side of the head plate. The face has strong relief curved eyebrows and projecting eyes in a narrower area immediately beyond the head plate. The lower face is in the centre of a broader area with scrolls and curving segments (?moustache extensions) filling the space - the edges are abraded here, and especially around the flat terminal, which is probably near semi-circular. Wi…
