Roman bow brooch missing the catch plate and pin. The brooch resembles the Trumpet type, but has a prominent recess between the head and the spring mechanism. The wings do not project beyond the narrow spring mechanism. The spring is secured by being looped around the underside of the mechanism. This brooch type is closest to the ‘Kraftig Profilierte (Strong profiled) brooches described by Hattatt (1985) as having a mainly European distribution and being found mostly on military sites from the 1st century AD.

Cast copper alloy mount possibly depicting the Tudor Rose. The mount is decorated with two rows of ‘petals’, enclosing six pellets around a central smaller pellet. The broken attachment loop on the reverse is placed against one of the edges. One edge of the mount is missing.

Cast oval belt mount with protruding lugs and loops. There is a central motif, now difficult to discern, is within an oval double border (outer beaded and inner plain). On one side the rectangular and two circular loops are missing. There is a suggestion the mount was once tinned or silvered.

Copper alloy seal matrix depicting the ‘Lamb of God’. The seal is a pointed oval shaped with a flat back incorporating a pierced lug at the apex of the matrix. The central motif depicts the lamb viewed from the side and facing to the left (in impression). The lamb’s front leg is raised and it is carrying a banner with three ribbons. The legend is religious and non-attributable. The legend reads: -

Polished bone point, probably of medieval or post-medieval date. The implement is sub-rectangular in profile, with curved sides and flat faces. The tool tapers gently along its length, with a more pronounced taper and rounded profile near the tip. The end of the implement has been shaped to a diagonal. The point of the pin is missing, with a recent break. One of the faces displays a more porous bone structure, representing the inner face of the bone.
The closest parallels to the implement are medieval bone pin-beaters used in textile manufacture similar to that found at Bedern, York (…
