A Medieval to early Post-Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, dating to c.AD 1200 - 1600.
The spindle whorl is of Walton Rogers form A1. It is plano-convex, D shaped in cross-section with some minor wear on the edges and round the central hole. The domed side has a series of scratches, although these make up no visible decoration. The flat underside is undecorated.

This object is a single loop buckle, cast as a single piece. The buckle is cast into a scallop shape with a plain bar that would have held the pin. There is no notch where the pin would have sat.

The object is broadly spherical with a clear hemispherical rib around the centre. Each hemisphere is equally faceted and present 7 faces each. One face has a small circular shallow hole running through it. Overall the object has a light cream patina.
Dimensions: Diameter 8.7mm; weight 3g
The function of the object is uncertain; with a round mass of 3g it may be a weight.
