Broken copper-alloy Roman devolved trumpet brooch of Bayley and Butcher 2004, Group C; Mackreth type TR. 1a.1a. The spring mechanism, pin, lower bow, foot, and catchplate are all missing. The trumpet-shaped head from which the brooch gets its name is plain; with a projecting nib uppermost. On the reverse of the head is a perpendicular loop that would have retained the spring. There is a three-disc knob on the upper bow. A complete Post Medieval cast copper alloy mount, dating c. AD 1600 to 1800. The mount is broadly circular in plan and features a quatrefoil design of four openwork hearts radiating outwards. The reverse is undecorated, with a single central attachment pin. The pin is broadly square in cross section and has been bent.. The overall patina is mid-grey, with areas of green corrosion. Soil deposits remain on the objects surface.

Levallois core in fresh condition, of mottled grey flint, now lightly patinated a sandy colour. The flint has some linier thermal (frost) cracks within the flint, these are present on both faces though the flint seems quite stable, a small “potlid” thermal fracture has detached on the underside, at the bottom of this damage is a small, light grey patch of a coarse inclusion in the flint, this is the cause of this sub-discoidal thermal fracture at this point. A curved flint flake, apparently removed from the cutting end of a Neolithic flaked axehead. The flake appears to represent a corner of the cutting end of the axehead and has a triangular cross section with removal scars on both sides and a concave inner surface which is the break from the tool. the low bulb-of-percussion and feathered ends to the flake suggest this was a deliberate, contemporary removal, probably for sharpening or finishing purposes.
