A cast copper alloy tongue shaped strap end, dating to circa 900-1100. This strap end falls under the Thomas Classification - Class E. The strap end is formed from two plates of copper alloy riveted together at the open end via two surviving copper alloy rivets. The front surface of the front plate is decorated with a vertical raised ridge which runs from top to bottom, it has two notches cut out of it near to the rounded terminal. The head of the pin is polyhedral, with 13 faces all of which appear to be decorated with either single or multiple incised ring and dot motifs. An incomplete cast copper alloy Anglo-Scandinavian strap end. The strap end has a triangular attachment end, which is a notched terminal, the upper plate has broken off, exposing the lower plate. There are two rivet holes through the attachment end, neither retains a rivet. The main body then extends into a tapering sub-rectangular shape. It is decorated with three incised lines just below where the break has occurred on the upper plate. The terminal is rounded and does not have a zoomorphic end. The reverse is flat. The metal is a mid brownish-green colour. A cast copper alloy fragment, possibly from a mount, dating to the early-medieval period. The object has a sub-triangular main body plate which is decorated with a shallow relief design. The design is formed around a lozenge shape with other curved markings around the edge. The edges of the plate are wavy. One terminal of the plate has a straight break, which is well worn. Extending from the opposite side of the main body is a D-sectioned curved extension. It is joined to the main body via a rounded knop. The reverse is flat and undecorated, but there are three shallow depressions on the reverse, which could once have been rivet holes. \nA cast copper alloy finger ring fragment. The bezel survives in full, but only part of the hoop survives. Both breaks are well worn. The bezel has an elongated lozenge shape, with well rounded edges. There is a central rib running along the centre of the bezel, this has a square section. Either side of the rib there is an incised ring and dot motif. There is also an incised line around the edge of the bezel. The surviving part of the hoop has a squared off D-shaped section. The metal is a mid brownish-green colour.<\/p>

A fragment of an Anglo-Scandinavian or Anglian strap end (Thomas classification Class E). The strap end has been made from a single plate of cast copper alloy. The attachment end is stepped is missing due to the break, which has occurred half way along the length of the strap end. The main body is tongue shaped, with a slight border around the edge of the tongue. The front plate is decorated with a complex interlacing, geometric design. The reverse is undecorated. The metal is a light greyish-green colour. A cast copper alloy single looped D-shaped buckle. The buckle has a narrowed strap bar. The outer edge of the frame is wide and has a circular section. The frame is uninterrupted; so therefore has no pin recess. The pin is missing. Where the frame meets the strap bar, very stylised open-mouthed animals can be seen biting the bar. The design is basic and stylised, to the point where the animals have lost their original features and have been decorated with an incised line. The outer corners of the strap bar flare out with a triangular terminal. The metal has lost most of its original surface and the metal is a light silvery-grey colour, suggesting an unusual mix of alloys and the surface is pitted. This type of buckle dates from the early-medieval to medieval period.

A cast copper alloy single looped D-shaped buckle. The buckle has a narrowed strap bar. The outer edge of the frame is wide and has a circular section. The frame is uninterrupted; so therefore has no pin recess. The pin is missing. Where the frame meets the strap bar, open-mouthed animals can be seen biting the bar. The design is basic and stylised. The outer corners of the strap bar flare out with a triangular terminal. The metal has lost most of its original surface and the metal is a light reddish-brown colour and is pitted. A fragment of a cast copper-alloy early Anglo-Saxon (or Anglian) cruciform brooch. The fragment comprises part of the head plate and one knob, probably the top knob. The head plate has been badly damaged but retains its broadly rectangular shape. There is a raised central panel which is edged on either side with punchmarks, probably annulets. The surviving knob is half-round with a flat-topped basal moulding decorated with two fine grooves, and a further fine groove at the base of the rounded terminal. The moulding and terminal are divided by a broad groove. The metal has a mid reddish-brown colour and is slightly pitted. It dates to the 6th century AD. An incomplete cast copper alloy object which could be a wrist clasp. It is not clear whether this surviving part of the clasp represents the eye-piece or the hook-piece. The clasp is formed from a rectangular plate of copper alloy, with four surviving circular lobes projecting from one edge. On the edge of the rectangular plate parallel incised lines can be seen, they are in three bands. The four circular lobes are concave, as they have been shaped with a shallow depression. The two central lobes have small holes in the base. Both ends of the plate are broken, so it is not clear how this would have been joined. The reverse is flat and heavily pitted. This wrist clasp dates to the early-mid 6th - 7th Century and probably belongs to Hines's' Form B18. A fragment of a cruciform brooch of early-medieval date. The fragment is the projecting knop either from the wing or top of the head of a cruciform brooch. From what would be the front of the brooch the knop appears bulbous with a rounded terminal. Opposite this point the knop narrows before extending into a double collar. From the reverse however the knop is flat. The break is well worn and features slot, this slot is filled with corroded iron, this iron pin would have held the knop onto the brooch head.
\nThe metal is a dark brownish-green colour and is worn.

A hooked tag, cast from one sheet of copper alloy. It is triangular in shape, with two holes at the top of the tag, with an incised ring around each. It measures 21.3mm length, 13mm width, 1.1mm thickness and weighs 0.9 grams. The front is decorated with two punched ring and dot designs, one slightly overlapping the other. The hooked tag is complete and the hook is bent from front to back, terminating in a point. There is a patch of wear on the reverse but otherwise the tag is in good condition. The patina is a dark greenish-grey. A zoomorphic composite strap end made of copper alloy. The strap end is cast, terminating in a dragon or lizard type creature on the front, with a raised design for the head outline, eyes and nose with two knops either side extending outwards. The neck of the creature forms the attachment part of the strap end. It is 31.8 mm in length, 10.4 mm in width and 7.6 mm in thickness, it weighs 8.1 grams. Unlike other strap ends of this date, the attachment part of the strap end bears no other zoomorphic detail. The reverse bears the rivet and is flat along the length of the strap end. The strap end appears to be complete; although it is possible the knops extending from the nose may have been broken as one knop is slightly longer than the other, this could also be down to wear. The surface is slightly worn and the zoomorphic detail is still clear. It has a mid brownish-green patina and comprises of the main strap end body and one rivet which is still in place. The strap end dates to the early-medieval to the medieval period, circa 800 - 1200. An incomplete silver finger-ring. The bezel of the ring has a raised border, but this survives only where it narrows to the shoulders, since much of the edge, probably originally curved, has broken off. Enough of the bezel survives to suggest that its original shape was pointed-oval. The outer face of the bezel has a series of horizontal striations and the reverse is flat and undecorated; there may originally have been a separate setting in the bezel.<\/p>\n
The border of the bezel narrows to the shoulders and then continues to form the hoop, which is circular in cross-section and is decorated with a series of transverse ribs. The interior of the hoop is worn, and the ribbing does not continue on the internal surface.<\/p>\n
Discussion:
\nThe ribbed hoop and the pointed-oval bezel can be paralleled by SWYOR-3BC897 (Treasure cast 2009 T448), which has Trewhiddle-style decoration dating it to the 9th century AD.<\/p>\n
In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.<\/p>\n

A fragment of a cast copper alloy strap end. The terminal has four steps on the front surface, each raising in height. The surviving piece is roughly rectangular, but tapers to the terminal proper. The strap end is broken after the fourth step, there is a notch in the copper alloy. The steps are themselves also decorated with incised lines, at a diagonal, pointing inwards, and there are vertical incised lines down the front of the steps. The reverse is flat and undecorated. A cast lead-alloy brooch of early-medieval date and nummular type, probably dating from the 9th-11th centuries. The brooch is circular in shape, with a wide flat border. The central area is raised to create a stepped-up inner section, which is also circular and flat. This area is hollow on the reverse. The rim of the brooch is decorated with a continuous run of small inward pointing lines. Adjacent to this are a series of raised triangles, each one pointing to the edge of the brooch. Each triangle has been further decorated with three parallel raised lines. The central raised area features a stylised triangular motif, formed from three curved 'C's. Each C-scroll has a double line, with a pellet in the curved terminals. Where the heads of the scrolls meet, double raised lines extend outwards, also forming pointed or triangle motifs. There is a pellet in the centre of the brooch. <\/p>

On the front surface, within the border, a hole can be seen. This hole presumably had something to do with the pin attachment, although no sign of this is visible on the reverse. The stump of the pin lug can be seen on the opposite side of the reverse to the hole. It is very worn and abraded. The lead is a mid whitish-brown colour, but survives in an excellent condition. This brooch is decorated with motifs reminiscent of insular art, and has parallels on the PAS database in NMS41 and NLM396. The best parallel for this brooch is a find from Ketsby, Lincolnshire which shared the same stepped-up central panel decorated with a similar motif (Leahy 2007, Fig. 80.6). An incomplete cast copper alloy mount of early medieval date. The mount appears to have been rectangular in plan when whole though now only a small portion remains, it is not possible to ascertain the exact proportion of the loss. It consists of a raised rectangular border within which is a decorated panel. The panel is decorated with a Style I animal motif though only the foot of the beast remains. It is common with Style I decoration that the motifs can be interpretable in a number of ways, especially if turned through 90 degrees, although some may seem impossible to interpret.
\nThe reverse of the mount is undecorated and a single long attachment rivet is present in the centre of the fragment.
\nThe metal is a dark brownish-green colour and is slightly worn. The mount is 20.9mm long, 15.7mm wide, 8.9mm thick and weighs 3.4g.
