The mount is elongated in plan, plano-convex in cross-section and broken at both ends. One end is broken at a rivet hole, suggesting that the original length was much longer. The other end flattens out and begins to curve downwards, perhaps forming the cap-end to a lid or book cover. The body is decorated with two moulded animal-heads seen from above. One is next to the curved terminal and the other is near the broken rivet hole. The animal heads both have two large 'rabbit' ears and two large annulet eyes. The bow is incomplete and faceted, and bears lines and half-circles along the top ridge. The lower part of the brooch is missing.
