Roman copper alloy unidentified object, possible a weight or a mount (although without any obvious means of attachment) cast in the form of a plano-convex mask. The nicely modelled mask comprises a male head with curled forelocks, side whiskers and stylised pointed ears, lentoid eyes, nose and mouth. Diameter 13.5mm. 4mm thick. Weight 2.87g. The head may be that of the rustic fertility god Faunus or a satyr. See Bagnall Smith, J. Britannia 30 (1999), 47 for a discussion of the evidence for a cult of Faunus in Norfolk and East Anglia.

Other protected loop terrets are known from Norfolk, e.g. from Tattersett (HER 31569) and are usually considered to be Roman, dating to the late first and second centuries AD.

Roman lead miniature votive axe head: cast with a vertical perforation for the missing separate haft. The head is of wedge-shaped section. The upper face is horizontal, the lower face is slightly angled down to the heel. There is no nape. Length 15mm, width 6mm. See Kiernan, P., (2009) Miniature Votive Offerings in the Roman North-West (Wiesbaden), BR41. This axe head is lead rather than the more commonly employed iron or copper alloy. However it belongs to Kiernan's Type 2. Probably not later than c.200 AD.

Fragment of Late Roman copper alloy military strap-end: split attachment edge with three V-sectioned notches on the front face and a single rivet. The sides taper past a single centrally placed punched ring-and-dot to a pair of pierced side lugs. Immediately beyond these a break cuts across another ring-and-dot. Length 29.5mm. Width 11mm at attachment edge, 15mm across lugs. Dates to the 4th century, but perhaps in use later.

Incomplete possibly Roman copper alloy unidentified object in very abraded condition with pitted surfaces, It is uncertain whether it is broken at three points or is substantially complete. One face is slightly convex, the other flat or at one place slightly concave. The present shape resembles a mushroom, with a single ovoid aperture. However if incomplete (which is perhaps more likely) it may have been discoidal with four apertures, diameter 43mm. Dimensions 39mm x 29mm. Thickness 6.5mm.

Roman copper alloy, probably military, harness fitting: a domed, hollow-backed rectangular or lozengiform strap slide with incomplete rectangular loop on the reverse. In the centre between four quarter-circular apertures there is a separate convex-headed rivet. At two opposing corners there a slight lobes, at one other a larger lobe and at the fourth an incomplete and even larger, pierced and probably circular projection. Length 26mm, width 23mm. Loop on reverse has dimensions of 15mm x 9mm. No close parallel noted. Dates to the 2nd - 3rd century.

Roman copper alloy Hod Hill brooch with most of the copper alloy pin and of the catchplate missing. The upper bow is straight sided, the lower tapering towards the foot. The middle part expands into a flat square boss decorated with three small enamel-inlaid cells. The central one is empty but the other two contain decayed dark coloured enamel. Length 28mm. Width of head 16.5mm, of mid-bow boss 10.5mm.Dates to AD c.43 - c.70.

Roman copper alloy probable furniture fitting containing the remains of an iron shank. Below a convex terminal there are two sharp flanges separated by a narrow waist. Below the lower flange a ribbed moulding sits above an arched base. This latter feature, indicating that the object was set upon a far from flat surface, is exceptional: almost all furniture knobs are level based. Much of the surface is obscured by corroded iron. Length 31.5mm. Maximum diameter 19mm. Width at base 20.5mm. Dates to the mid 1st - 4th century.

Incomplete Late Roman copper alloy military propeller-shaped belt stiffener with one disc-headed attachment shank on the reverse. About two-thirds are extant, the central circular element and one sub-triangular terminal. One corner of the latter is damaged, but a lozengiform lobe, perhaps representing a leaf, projects from the other. There is a pronounced median rib. Estimated length 43mm. Estimated width 19mm. Length of shank excluding disc head (i.e. thickness of strap 4mm). Dates to the 4th century, but perhaps in use later.

Roman copper alloy sprung Dolphin brooch, spring and pin missing but otherwise in very fresh condition. The wings are decorated at there outer ends with three vertical grooves. At the top of the rectangular-sectioned bow in front of the hook a low projecting moulding is cut by three transverse notches. Below this three median grooves descend to the foot with the spaces between them knurled. Wingspan 21mm. Length 40.5mm. c.43 - c.55 AD.

Copper alloy possible Roman comb: thin trapezoidal sheet plate (0.5mm) with remains of a row of widely-spaced short triangular teeth at broad end. 21 x 26mm. Length of teeth 2mm. Gap between teeth 2mm. A group of very similar objects was recovered from a 4th-century pottery beaker at Chalton, Hampshire. Frere described them as "very puzzling" and without precise parallels.
