A fragment cast copper-alloy chafing dish handle, c.15th-16th century in date.
Description: The fragment represents the upper corner of an inverted openwork T-shape as KENT-7B6924, likely the attachment end. The fragment has filed chamfered edges.
Measurements: 35.36mm long, 26.9mm high, 6.69mm thick at thickest and 25.09g in weight.
Discussion: For similar examples see Egan (1998) 175, fig.143, no.487, and Margeson (1993) Norwich Households 78-80, fig.45, nos.489-91. These objects are frequently recorded on the PAS database e.g. NMS-91CC97 and KENT-7B6924 (the latter being complete). It is possible that some examples were attached to objects other than chafing dishes but if they are found on their own chafing dish is the most likely suggestion.
