An incomplete Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. The headplate is missing. The bow is arched. There is a rib of horizontal stamped decoration at the apex of the bow running its length.The bow is also decorated with rows of marginal stamped hemisphere and dots. There is stepped moulding and horizontal groove at the point where the bow meets the flat panel of the foot. The borders of the flat panel are decorated with stamped hemispheres and dot. The flat panel is flanked with two semi-circular lappets with grooved spiralling scroll decoration. The flat is panel is separated from the horse head terminal by a half-round panel comprising two collars of three horizontal ribs each. The horse head terminal is fragmentary. However, two raised circular eyes are visible. On the underside of the brooch, the catchplate runs the length of the flat panel and half-round panel. The catchplate is damaged but is semi-circular in shape. The brooch has a dark brown patina. In places, especially on the bow and foot, the surface of the brooch is pitted and green corrosion products are visible. The current length of the brooch is 64mm. The maximum width of the bow is 18mm. The width of the flat plate including lappets is 30mm.
