Cast copperalloy single-looped trapezoidal buckle with sheet copper alloy plate. The frame is 26 in length and 25 mm wide tapering to 19 mm at the narrowed and recessed strap bar. The frame is 4 mm thick and the strap bar is 3.5 mm thick. The outer edge of the frame is expaned into two right-angles with some moulded decoration between them, but the surface is so corroded, it is hard to make out any detail. There is a gap in the centre of the end of the plate which would have accommodated the pin, now missing, around the strap bar. The plate is 33 mm long, 16.8 mm wide and 5 mm thick. The plate is mounted onto the frame by having been bent around the strap bar and is then riveted to the leather strap that still remains between the two sides of the folded plate. Part of the rivet still remains intact, and is now 4 mm in diameter, but a larger rivet remains at the broken end of the plate, securing the leather strap, which is 5 mm in diameter.

Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar single-looped trapezoidal buckle and plate on page 23, no.102 which is dated from c.1250-1400
