Eight sherds from Roman samian ware vessels.

1. A large rim sherd from an open bowl. The wall of the vessel is gently curved and the rim beaded. Very soft, fine fabric with few visible inclusions, bright orange in colour with a glossy red-brown slip. Length: 105.82mm, width: 47.95mm, thickness: 9.00mm, weight: 40.08g

2. The sherd comes from the rim and wall of an open bowl. The fabric is soft and fine with few visible inclusions apart from occasional white flecks. The fabric is a pinkish orange colour and the slip a glossy orange-brown. Uncertain production. Length: 66.74mm, width: 48.04mm, thickness: 7.69mm, weight: 25.43g

3. The sherd come from the rim and wall of a small, open vessel, probably a cup. It has a double curved wall and a beaded rim. The fabric is hard and fine with frequent white specks. It is pinkish orange in colour with a glossy orange-brown slip. Probably South Gaulish (La Graufesenque) manufacture. Length: 58.93mm, width: 41.47mm, thickness: 8.13mm, weight: 18.57g

4. A sherd from the rim and wall of an open vessel. The rim is beaded and the wall curves outwards slightly. The fabric is soft and fine and is tempered with quartz sand. It is an orange colour with a glossy brown-orange slip. Possibly Central Gaulish manufacture. Length: 59.70mm, width: 43.79mm, thickness: 9.23mm, weight: 26.27g

5. A sherd from the wall and rim of an open vessel. The wall is slightly curved and the rim is beaded. The fabric is hard and fine with a choncoidal fracture and few visible inclusions apart from whitish specks. It is pinkish-orange in colour with a glossy red-brown slip. Probably of South Gaul (La Graufesenque) manufacture. Length: 55.17mm, width: 54.94mm, thickness: 7.69mm, weight: 18.86g

6. A sherd from above the base of a vessel. The fabric is soft and fine and is tempered with plentiful mica and occasional whitish flecks. It is orange in colour with a glossy orange-brown slip. Poissibly of Central Gaulish manufacture. Length: 44.31mm, width: 38.40mm, thickness: 8.02mm, weight: 13.67g

7. A sherd from the rim of a small vessel, possibly a cup. The rim is beaded and the walls curve outwards. The fabric is very soft and fine and is tempered with some fine quartz and occasional mica. The fabris is orange in colour and the slip is a glossy red-brown. Possibly of Central Gaulish manufacture. slightly. Length: 45.46mm, width: 28.49mm, thickness: 5.94mm, weight: 8.86g

8. A sherd from the wall and rim of an open vessel. The wall of the vessel flares outwards towards the plain upright rim. The fabric is hard and fine with few visible inclusions. It is pinkish orange with a glossy orange-brown slip. Possibly of South Gaulish (La Graufesenque) manufacture. Length: 47.22mm, width: 44.90mm, thickness: 5.76mm, weight: 8.61g
