The spring is U-shaped, tapering in at the curve. The blades narrow towards the tip.","A pair of miniature iron shears (l. 107mm) was found at Icklingham, Suffolk (West 1998, fig. 54 no.3). Shears of this form with U-shaped springs are likely to be Roman as they are of a plain and functional form, lacking the slight elaboration commonly seen at the tops of the blades of Medieval shears. Such small shears produced in copper alloy are likely to have fulfilled a votive role.","","1999-10-15 00:00:00","2011-02-24 12:18:32","3","","1","1983-03-20","","","","","","1","","","","","","","","sworrell","Sally Worrell","FASW","dpett","Daniel Pett","Copper alloy","","","","Cast","","","Good","Certain","ROMAN","EARLY MEDIEVAL","","Metal detector","","Ms Sally Worrell","","Ms Sally Worrell","HAMPSHIRE","","WINCHESTER","","","","","SU4512","SU52NE","","","","","","Winchester District","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","","",
