<descriptions>
<description>
<full>A medieval copper&#45;alloy finger&#45;ring of stirrup&#45;shaped type, dating from the mid 12th to early 15th century. The shape of the ring is quite elongated, measuring 27.1mm from the tip of the bezel to the back of the hoop, by 21.7mm wide. The hoop has a flat inner surface and slightly domed outer surface and is 3.3mm high by 1.6mm thick. It runs smoothly into the bezel, which is a classic trapezoidal shape and measures 5.8mm deep (front of setting to inside of hoop), by 5.3mm thick. The setting is sub&#45;oval and measures 6.8mm long by 3.8mm wide. It has no inset but is filled with a white paste, the remnants of an adhesive or cement for a stone. The surfaces of the ring are slightly corroded, but generally have a dark grey patina. It is possible that the surface is silvered. The weight is 4.62g.</full>
