TOKEN

Unique ID: BERK-B80A5A

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

An incomplete lead alloy token of post-medieval date. The token has a design on one face resembling wheels; a cross within a circle, repeated twice. There is an indistinct feature between the two. On the opposing side there is a larger X shape, although it is unclear if this was an intentional design or not. Lead tokens can be enigmatic objects, the later examples often considered to be agricultural tokens or tallies; this example may be late medieval or early post-medieval c. AD 1400-1700.
