RING

Unique ID: SF-C40BE1

Object type certainty: Certain
Workflow status: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation

A complete hollow copper-alloy ring formed from two halves. This ring is c18mm in external diameter and c8mm in internal diameter. One half of the hoop of this ring is extened with an oval cross-section and has a width of 8mm the other half is not and has a width of 3.5mm.

Although no parallel could be found for this ring it is likely to have had a decorative function, hanging from the thinner half of the hoop from a strap, perhaps a harness strap. It is also most likely to be medieval in date. It is similar in form, although larger and undecorated, to another ring from Sutton (see SF-c3eb88).
