A fragment of a copper alloy Medieval strap end probably dating from AD 1250 - 1400. It is a composite strap end of which only part of the spacer survives. It terminates in an acorn shaped knop. The two sheet plates are missing. The body of the strap end is circular. The spacer is incomplete but was probably originally forked. The integral knop at the closed end is in the form of an acorn with a collar. The strap end is similar to examples on page 140 - 141 of Dress Accessories by Egan and Pritchard. They are dated from 1270 - 1400. Compare also SWYOR-20DC46, YORYM-059902 and HAMP-250463. The fragment is 21.6mm long, 17.2mm wide, 5mm thick and 3.02g.
