A rim fragment from a late medieval or early post medieval domesstic vessel dating to the period c AD 1300-1500. On the outside, the fragment comprises a section of the rim which flares out before curving back in towards the outer body of the vessel creating a lip. Under the lip of the rim, a raised rib of decoration has been applied which has been impressed with thumb prints. There is a rough line just below rib, presumably where it as joined to the body of the vessel The inner edge of the rim is bevelled and curls sharply towards the inside of the vessel, creating a distinct bulge before changing angle to form the inside of the vessel. On the outside of the vessel, the clay is reddish/brownish yellow with some blackish marks. On the inside of the vessel, the surface is lighter in tone with some darker marks. There are abundant inclusions which appear as numerous small holes on the surface of the fragment. The core of the fragment is a darker brownish yellow with black inclusions evident.
