Copper alloy Post Medieval seal matrix. The matrix has a flat openwork trefoil handle with a rectangular cross-section. The handle flutes abruptly outwards at the base of the seal to form an oval matrix that bears a design on its underside. There is a raised zig-zag border with the initials C/I or C/J separated by an upright foliate sprig. Circa 1600-1700 AD.
