A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy buckle chape and pin (c. 1690-c. 1720).

This object is in the form of a cylindrical recessed pin bar housing an iron spindle, which expands to a sub-triangular body which subsequently tapers and narrows to a rounded terminal. The chape is flat in cross-section. At the rounded end a large domed stud appears to be separate.

The object is greenish brown.

Length: 45.5mm; width: 20.6mm; thickness: 7.4mm; diameter of stud: 8.1mm. Weight: 4.42g.

A chape of similar style has been dated c. 1690-c. 1720 (Whitehead 2003: 96, fig. 1).
