Post Medieval cast copper alloy strap mount, dating to the 17th century AD. The front is slightly convex and the back concave. In plan the central and largest part of the mount is sub-triangular in shape with a point at the top and rounded lower corners. At the centre of the wide base-end is a triangular shaped projecting terminal whilst the opposite apex-end terminates in a pointed knob with a semi-circular base. On the reverse are two integral circular sectioned attachment spikes, one near the top and one near the base. Both are incomplete, just worn stubs. The mount is 31.8mm long and 14.5mm wide, it is 2.2mm thick excluding the spikes, 4.1mm including. It weighs 1.98 grams.
A similar mount from South Somerset has been dated by Read to the 17th century (Read 2001, 35; no: 292), SOM-853257 from the same field appears almost identical with just different wear.
