A complete lead gaming piece or token of medieval to post-medieval date, circa AD 1200 - 1800. The token is sub-square in plan with slightly recessed fluted sides and appears undecorated.
The metal is a dark yellowish-grey colour and is worn. The object is 22.4mm long, 22.3mm wide, 3.4mm thick and weighs 12.1g.
Gaming pieces and tokens with simple designs are very easy to make and continued in use for a long period. They have a huge range of designs which were not necessarily related to function and could have been used for various purposes such as counting, gaming, farm or tavern tokens or possibly even as weights.
