An incomplete cast copper alloy Roman brooch, probably a variant of a hinged T-shaped brooch dating from the first to second century AD. The brooch retains the wings, which partially encase the pin axis bar, and about three-quarters of the bow. The bow is decorated with moulded patterns comprising a raised central mid-rib on the crest of the bow, with horizontal banding with grooves either side; below this are two or three moulded saltires above horizontal ribbed mouldings. The foot of the brooch and reverse catchplate are missing. The pin is a simple hinged pin secured in place by the horizontal pin bar in the wings.
