Incomplete Roman plate brooch with domed boss and enamelled decoration, Mackreth 2011, British Plate type 3.a, with the hinged pin, one half of the pin lug, part of the pierced lobe in front of the catchplate and both lateral lobes missing. A jagged hole in the domed boss is ancient damage. Around a blind hole in the centre of the boss are two circles of fourteen triangular cells inlaid with alternately red enamel and blue glass. Cf. Mackreth 2011, pl. 108, no. 11577 and Hattatt 2000, fig. 209, no. 128. Extant length 30mm.Height of dome 4.8mm. 2nd century.
