An incomplete copper-alloy Roman Hod Hill brooch. Only the head and part of the bow survives, the remainder of the object is missing due to old breaks, now worn.
At the head of the brooch the flattened terminal of the bow, with a central pin slot, is rolled forwards to hold in place, the now missing pin. The head tapers slightly and is separated from the bow by a faint transverse ridge. The bow is flat and has a concave front face. The front face is decorated with a central wavey rib with a longitudinal groove to either side. The back face is undecorated.
This brooch measures 20.21mm in length, 10.12mm in width at the head, 8.01mm in width at the bow, 1.09mm in thickness, 1.05g in weight.
There is a similar example recorded by Hattatt (Hattatt, 1989, p.322, no. 319).
